If you have a chance to get to Cocopah Speedway in Yuma AZ, I recommend that you go. It is a wide 3/8 the way that Knoxville is a 1/2 mile, around the inside. Beautiful facility with plenty of footroom in the all concrete grandstand, which has wide platforms like Gas City but not nearly so cramped. Really very comfortable. Grass and palm trees at the entrance, reminding me of Manzy. They even have an area which is landscaped with a bench and decoration for fans to take pictures showing where they have been. I saw lots of families taking pictures of their kids. Great promotional idea. All staff are in uniform shirts, with concession stand workers having a different type. Everything they do just adds to the impression that you are at a class facility. I have to mention the street stock races. Most of the top runners are IMCA legal and they put on an excellent show both nights. Don't know what is legal with IMCA, but those things really hauled. I was most pleasantly surprised. Lots of passing in the ASCS race. Jason Johnson won from 4th, Logan Forler 2nd from 2nd, Christopher Bell 3rd from 11th, BC 13th from 22nd, Brady Bacon 14th from 20th. Once again Roger Crockett put on a show, finishing 6th from 25th starting spot. Blake Hahn was 17th from 17th starting spot in car #17. Sorry, just couldn't pass that up. A very entertaining evening at a class track.

Is this the old Yuma Speedway the Outlaws used to race at years ago?

They are also going to add a scoreboard behind the back straight and also redo the restrooms, as well as other improvements. This place is going to be even more of a jewel than it is now. It is so good to see a track come back after so long rather than seeing an operating track shut down for commercial use. Good to see Kamp reopened also. I hope this is the start of a trend. Now if we could just knock down the Walgreens and get Little Springfield back.
