With a string of four rain outs in a row the Midwest TQ Racing League presented by Jenmarco.com is hoping for sunshine and blue skies Thursday at the Rush County Fairgrounds for the annual Fourth of July three-quarter midget race.

Twenty-seven cars were on hand Wednesday for the rained out Rush County Fair race and the MTQRL is expecting another strong field of cars this week. Four-time and defending champion Tate Martz of Rushville will look for his first win of the year after starting on the tail and finishing second to Nick Speidel at the MTQRL’s lone event of season on June 15th at the Montpelier Motor Speedway.

The Rushville race will be the last chance for the MTQRL drivers to sharpen their racing skills before competing against Tony Stewart on Tuesday July 9th at “Tony Stewart Night at the Bartholomew County Fair” in Columbus, Ind.

The schedule of events on Thursday has the pit gate opening at 3:00 pm, the grandstands at 5:00 pm, drivers meeting at 5:30 pm, practice at 6:00 pm and qualifications at 6:30 pm. At 7:30 pm the night’s racing will begin with the fastest four qualifiers competing in the Jackson Oil & Solvents Duel for Fuel, followed by Perfect North Slopes heat races, a semi feature and a 25-lap feature. The evening will be capped off at 10:00 pm with the Rush County July 4th Fireworks Celebration in the field north of the Rushville Elementary School.

Adult general admission is $8, children (7-12) are $2, and ages 6 and under are free. Pit admission is $25 for all ages. Any minors that wish to enter the pit area must have an Annual Release on file with the MTQRL that is signed by both parents/guardians and have one parent/guardian in attendance to sign the Minor Release form.
