I attended my first non-wing sprint race 3 weeks ago @ L-burg (amazing track by the way) and now plan on attending night #1 of Speedweek, and I have a few probably simple questions for you regulars.

-What format do the Speedweek events follow(i.e. qualifying/heat races etc..)?
-What kind of car count should I expect to see?
-Approximately how long will these shows take(not accounting for red-flags etc)?

Thanks for the answers in advance.

Sprint week is run under the USAC banner and rules. They will qualify and after qualifying the top 32 are locked into the four heat races. The balance of the cars will be in the non-qualifiers races and depending on car count as to how many races they will run. If it is two non-qualifier races then they will take the top two from each and they will each tag the tail of one of the heat races. If it is four non-qualifier races then they will take the winner only to tag the tail of each heat. The rest of the cars in the non-qualifier races will then be done for the evening. The non-qualifiers races start straight up by time.

Each heat will have an inverted start and they will transfer the top four to the feature. The other five cars per heat will go to the semi feature. The semi starts straight up by time and the top six cars will transfer to the feature. They will have provisionals available and that is how they will set the field. In the feature they will invert the top six. I hope this helps.

I don't know exactly but I would guess 42-48 cars at Lawrenceburg. The last question is also kind of hard to answer. USAC this year has been working very hard to get the feature over with by 10:30 PM. I think that they will do everything in their power to continue on with this fast paced approach.
