Retiring usually indicates that there was some kind of pension involved or, at the very least, the person was making a living at whatever he/she retired from. I think it would be more accurate to say, "Coleman got out of the sport"

If it wasn't for parents helping these young drivers get their start you would have a lot less drivers, tracks and people to sell photos to.......
