"Ya just gotta love Kurt", said Honda USAC Ignite Midwest Dirt Series director, Craig Dori.
"He is a true racer, and a well respected racer at that. So it's great that he lends his name to this new group! I think Kurt strikes a chord in a certain type of racer, and that will eventually help this deal succeed."

For the budget minded Midget Racer thats looking for more race options, longtime Midget racer Kurt Mayhew is proud announce the formation of Kurt Mayhew‘s Midget Lites!

The K.M.M.L. is excited to run their first races as Co-Sanction events with the Honda USAC Midwest Ignite Dirt Midget Series.

Kurt explains, “we have already been running a successful, restricted series here in Illinois, and the competition is fantastic! Now, joining up with the Honda USAC Ignite series, fans will be able to see some fabulous competition from more racers in the region, and hopefully drag a few cars out of the garage.”

Kurt went on to explain that using the current formula of restrictions for our Ecotec Engines, as well as other engines, versus the current stock Ford Focus engine, not only makes sense, but makes for great racing!

The K.M.M.L. will use the same weight/engine rules, as used by the Illini Racing Series. “Kurt commented that Laverne Spencer and the IRS group have done a great job in finding the level playing field that most everyone wants, we just want to expand on that to more racers! We will still be supporting the IRS series whenever we can, but also excited about racing against the USAC folks as well.”

Dori added that "we have worked hard to come up with a way to make this work, I just wish we could have worked it out a little sooner to give guys a little more notice. But, we will forge ahead. Our current USAC Ignite roster puts on some fabulous races and we have a nice crop of new young talent, mixed in with a few veterans. Adding some more racers to the mix, will just make the product, that much better! Our young guys and gals can learn a lot running with folks like Kurt, the SET guys, or Patrick Brun! I am truly looking forward to it!"

"We have done all we can to help any of the KMML guys get over and run with us. R & W, RFMS, and Bob East were nice enough to rummage up some their used stuff, to give to these guys! With all the different tire rules, we didn't want to have to make these guys run out buy 7 tires, so were trying help anyway we can. They will need to buy the Hoosier Focus right rear, but can run the National Hoosier Midget fronts, and the National Hoosier D12 left rears."

"It will be a work in progress to see how their restrictions compete against the current Focus package, but in time we should get it all worked out. There are groups like Kurt's running in several places around the country, and we're excited for the possibilities that this could bring"!

USAC car and tire rules will apply to these special races with the exception of allowing the standard National Hoosier Midget D12 on the left rear. There will be no changes for current USAC competitors.
Note: No chain drives, must be full size Midget

The first two races for this exciting union will take place Friday June 28th at Gas City Speedway, and Saturday June 29th at Plymouth Speedway.
