Indianapolis (May 23, 2013)-Persistent rain showers over central Indiana have caused the 60th anniversary Hoosier Hundred USAC Silver Crown race at the Indiana State Fairgrounds to be postponed until tomorrow night, May 24. Heavy rains in central Indiana yesterday led to the postponement of the USAC Sprint Car Tony Hulman Classic at Terre Haute and light to moderate showers passing through Indianapolis and the surrounding areas only added to the rain received at the fairgrounds. The added rain made the track unsuitable for racing this evening.

However, Indy bound race fans get the luxury of the event returning to the traditional Friday slot as USAC and Track Enterprises, along with the Indiana State Fair, have agreed to use tomorrow night as a rain date for the 60th Hoosier Hundred. “I hate it for the fans and racers, but we just couldn’t avoid the rain”, said promoter Bob Sargent. “I guess if we were going to have a rainout this is the best situation we could be in, we still have tomorrow and the weather forecast for tomorrow is very good with cool weather and sunny skies in central Indiana.” “Race fans ought to see one heck of a show tomorrow.”

Times remain the same with the grandstand open at 3, practice at 5, qualifications at 6 and racing at 7 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

My son and I were only 20 miles into our trip to Indianapolis when he read on his computer that we could turn around. Tomorrow works best for both of us. He will be in town for Carb Day and I can spend the morning at the office then off for the SC race.

I hope that it stays over cast and maybe light drizzle in the morning... I'd love to see a race on a tacky mile track just once.
Looked like this was going to be a good one after a rain delay before the coverage had to come to a close.

Please pardon my ignorance but will Anderson's stuff tomorrow interfere with the Hoosier Hundred now that it was postponed?

Second round qualifying for the Little 500 is scheduled from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM tomorrow. Weather permitting it shouldn't have much of an effect on the Hoosier Hundred. Qualifying there starts at 6:00 PM with racing at 7:00 PM.

I noticed that Dave is outside the top 15 in qualifying at Anderson and only the top 15 are locked in. With his 26th position at the moment, I would imagine that they will try to re-qualify tomorrow if possible. It could get a little tight if they decide to delay until late in the session or weather delays qualifying. He might be racing at Anderson and then racing to get to the fairgrounds for the Hoosier Hundred.
