Does anyone have locations of camping in the Daytona area for the week of the 10th or places not to go. First time trip to the 500 looking for warmer weather.
Thanks

Tomoka (not sure of spelling) State Park Ormand Beach is great. Camped there for 6-7 years in a row. Maybe 15 minute drive to Speedway. Park is located a little north & east of the Speedway.

There is a campground South and a little bit East of the Speedway. From the Speedway you go East on International Speedway Boulevard to Clyde Morris Blvd. Go South on Clyde Morris. Not sure how far but it seems a mile or maybe two. The name of the place is Daytona Beach Campground and it sets on the East side of Clyde Morris.

The street address is actually Port Orange not Daytona Beach. The website is http://www.carefreervresorts.com/rv-...daytona-beach/. the address and phone number is: 4601 S Clyde Morris Blvd Port Orange, FL 32129
(386) 761-2663.

It's been a while since we camped there during Speedweeks but, the last time we did we got there without reservations on Saturday the weekend prior to the 500 and they had a campsite for us.

The last time we were there the place was well kept and quiet. One of the few campgrounds that allow campfires. Also, you'll be 15 or 20 minutes from the beach and maybe a 40-45 minute drive out to Volusia Speedway Park (dirt) and even less to New Smyrna Speedway (asphalt).

Traffic is going to be a problem the day of the qualifiers and even worse on 500 day no matter where you stay and this place will be no exception but as close as it is it shouldn't be terribly difficult.

Good luck, hope you find a place and have a great time!
