Can you repair a cracked weld on the chassis with the mag still in the motor? I have an Autocraft motor in a midget if it makes a difference. Thanks in advance. Keith

Yes, disconnect the mag from everything. Worked for several chassis companies, and we did it all the time. Main thing is remove the ground wire to the chassis. But to be safe disconnect all connections.

Sometimes you can, sometimes not, I have, and it's not worth the trouble, we had to add to a rollbar in a dragcar, at Indy Nat's, of course we were in a hurry, rushed home, added the required pcs, rushed back, car was in a kill mode before, pussycat after all that running around, so I'd recommend pulling the mag, I know it's a pain, but it might save you a trip with no results! Thanks for the advice. I found a cracked weld where the rear bumper attaches to the frame. We've never pulled a mag in a VW before and are a little "skeered"

You could always gas weld it, if your good, you can make it look just like the TIG weld, and it will be just as strong anyway, I've done that many times, no arcing problems, or worries about mags or other electronics! Bob
