In the 70's, at a TRI-SAC race at Kalamazoo speedway. I saw a turbine powered sprint car. If I remember right it was from the Indy area. It was a red car that look like a sprint car. It seem like it was in a heat race crash and was the only time I ever saw it race. Anyone remember-know anything about that car?

That would have been Gary Schlafer, and I believe it was the car that Steve Bolan built, being piloted by Schlafer.

I know in the early 70's there was a car that ran one. It was a Stapp chassis with a turbine. I know Sid Rust drove it a couple times. I don't know much more then that. There may have been a short piece by Robin Miller in the Star all those years ago.

schwarzracen27 I could not get the link to work

Piedmont Push Trucks The car in your link is not the one I remember. It look like a sprint car not a roadster style car. I do remember they had a starter-battery cart they used to get the engine running. I can't remember if it needed a push truck to get it moving-rolling.
