(more detailed story will be posted later)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Billy Wease nudged his way past 14-year-old Cooper Clouse with two laps to go, climaxing his charge from the last starting position, to win Friday night's 50-lap midget feature on the opening night of the 15th annual Rumble in Fort Wayne.

Wease, 26, notched his fourth career win on the 1/6-mile track at the Memorial Coliseum Expo Center and his fifth overall indoor midget victory. He started 14th in the 14-car lineup.

Justin Peck, another 14-year-old, finished second, with Jimmy Anderson, Bobby East and early leader Mike Fedorcak completing the top five. Clouse spun after contact with Wease in turn one on lap 49 and wound up seventh.

Three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart was running second just before the halfway point when his engine expired, relegating him to a 12th-place finish. Stewart has won a record nine times at the Rumble.

Stewart said he would have a "tired" engine fitted in his car for Saturday night's finale of the Rumble in Fort Wayne. Doors open at 11 a.m., with the main portion of the program after 7 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door.

Erick Rudolph won the accompanying winged outlaw modified midget feature, inheriting the victory when Cap Henry's throttle stuck and he spun with just over a lap to go.

We have started the karts and quarter midgets early..so we are doing our best to end it early. The second night always runs smoother, because the track groove has been worked out wider, and thicker. The track was slippery last night, and caused delay. We will do our best to make it up to fans and teams.

Thanks

I took my nephew with me last night and we had a great time!! Yea it was late but worth the admission price. Its been about 5 years since i went to the Rumble and was surprised how much better the mini sprints looked like they handled this year. Was that black car that John Ivy driving a indoor only car?
