Can someone give me the rundown on best practices for mounting a motor? Car is a 2k era Bailey, and just picked up a 2007 R1. 3/8" Aluminum motor plate and mounts. I believe i've read that you want keep the front and rear sprocket (centers) at an equal distance height wise, correct? How is this measured, rear axle on set up blocks to same planar surface front and rear ?
I belive this position causes the oil pan to hang below rails? An oil pan being the lowest point scares me... I have read an old thread on here about people running motor below the rails, and using a skid plate. Is this common practice?
Conversely, keeping the oil pan above the lower rails puts the chain at quite an uphill angle toward the frt sprocket. Other than extra drag on the chain / sliders is this know to cause other problems?
i've been out of the game for awhile, so any help is appreciated.

On our ERCs, which have the same measurements as a bailey, we have the oil pan flush with the bottom rails.. ( we also use the r1). Top left mount should be flush with the vertical tube that it bolts too.
