A tragic accident at the corner of Shampine Dr. and E. Albany St. in front of the Oswego Speedway has claimed three young men and left two others seriously injured tonight. The young men are all in their early to mid 20's. While names have not been released at this time please pray for the families thats lives have been ripped apart this evening.
A quote from Bobby G "hold 'em tight n love 'em folks....", says it best. The pictures of the crash on the news are horrible, the police feel the car was traveling at a high rate of speed and hit a utility pole. Of course I am praying for all the families involved, and praying even harder no one I know has lost a son tonight. Many from the racing fraternity bowl on Tuesday night just down the street from where the accident occurred. Patti |

Thank God that God was watching over them and had them hit a utility pole and not other innocents.

Bummer, I stress all the time to my kids that the track is for racing and thrill's and the street is how to get there safetly. We get into discussions on this board about racing safety, when racing is safe compared to the streets, and most of the other stupid stuff I do.

Our prayers to the families. This is all to common, and especially at the end of the school year. I have unfortunately seen fatal accidents at graduation time in three different cities I have lived in. One right across the pond where we lived. The quote "hold em tight and love em" really gets me. I have one who just got her permit, and my boy will be eligible around Christmas. They can sure do stupid things at this age, but news like this brings us all back to what is really important.

The local paper this morning is saying a fourth young man died at the hospital last night, names still haven't been released.
Safety was one my reasons for posting this, hoping that parents would talk with their kids about safe driving. Prom season and graduation parties can often turn tragic when alcohol and speed are mixed with driving. Prayers for the families who lost a son in this tragic accident was my other reason. A woman driving south on Shampine Dr. on her way home from work was very lucky the car didn't hit her car. She made the call to 911 to report the accident. Will update as more information becomes available. Patti |

The names and ages of those killed in last nights crash were released this afternoon Robert L. Senke 25, Justin M Purdy 24 and Antonio Mendez 28. There seems to be some confusion with the local media about Jermey W. Tassie 22, the local paper reported a fourth victim died at the hospital, now they are reporting Tassie and Donald M. Odin 26 are hospitalized. Odin is the registered owner of the vehicle and Senke was driving. The investigation indicates all occuptants of the vehicle had consumed alcohol prior to the crash and that speed may have been a factor.
Once again it is a tragic reminder of how our lives can change in a split second and to always remember to tell those you love how much you love them. Patti |
