Ok, so I know I am speaking for many... WTH??? Thank God Mark is ok. If his helmet strap was not tight enough, someone reach into the cockpit the next time he goes out and pull on it for him. Wow. Great photos but really scary.. Again, glad he's ok..

If you look just above the chin section of the helmet you will see one of the helmet straps. Seems it either pulled out or was not fastened to start with. The only thing holding his helmet on is his Hans straps.

I don't know any updates but he was transported by ambulance after changing into street clothes. I haven't heard since then a status but we were told he was being transported. Praying it's minor that is a scary picture!
After the Crash Mark Heard I had these photo's on my Camera and Came to me in the tower to look at them he was amazed I also noticed he was rubbing his neck and said it did not seem to be to bad of a crash hope he is OK
Sometimes folks question extra effort/emphasis on safety response, etc...these photos illustrate the "crap happens" phenomenon that requires diligence on safety...HANS devices, full containment seats, great helmets and firesuits do not prevent the odd situations that are just as tragic...safety diligence never takes a vacation!
