I was just sitting around on a nasty old Saturday morning doing Google searches. I Googled Kenyon cars to see what they were doing. Looks like they have 12 shows mostly at the SpeedDrome in Indy.

MMSA has changed their rules to allow drive shafts and quick change rear ends this year. The kenyon cars motor is just a little too big to be legal with MMSA 1100 cc Yamaha's.

Since they are almost the same car and the have no dirt races that I could find planed for this year. And since there races are not in conflict with MMSA races it would be neat if MMSA waved their motor rule because of their rear end and allowed them to race with us.

We could probably scrape up a enough used tires for them to borrow to keep their cost down. It would be great to get both groups together and racing and to be honest I would like to run a some asphalt shows also.

Kenyon cars would also make a great platform to put our motors in.

I guess the real question is are their any Kenyon racers interested in running some dirt races? And would the 1000 cc racers allow them to race with them?

Hey Dad...how's things been going....we have the same thing here in Fl. with my rules and if you run a quick change you are allowed up to a 1352cc MOTORCYCLE engine and will fall in the criteria of what Mel has going on...Bill and I spoke over the winter about this and this will allow TQ's and converted midgets..Mel and I have spoken several occasion and he is all for it...the difference in weight and lost of HP going through the driveline will equal out...now my series is strictly a non wing so it works out and we are strictly stock engines.....Bill's a very smart man and has it going on but then Jerry Taegue's group is good also.....maybe the good lord will see fit that somehow they could work together but then I have the same issue down here and it is not easy...Don (Kenyon) told me back in Dec. that they where going to try to have some dirt races this year and would try to get a group to come to Florida Feb.2013

With the quick change rule now in effect these classes are very close together. The Kenyon's are a spec type race car using the 1100 cc yamaha motor. Like you said on small dirt tracks without wings I can see them as being pretty racey. If a person was to install a Hybusa or ZX 14R in one of them they would probably be a Rocket ship. HINT HINT! just need a little rule massaging to make it work.

We have races at some of the Premier dirt tracks in Indiana and Ohio this summer. It would be a great chance for the Kenyon cars drivers to run dirt and a good chance to see what might be the Kenyon metric 1400cc midget of the future.

The Mel Kenyon Midget Series has 3 races scheduled for US 24 Speedway in Logansport later on in the year.

AMSA says all cars with engines over 1000 must weigh 1040. dont that make it more fair against the 1000 cc cars? MMSA wants the 600's to come race with them and lets them weigh less same difference to me. I say meet the weight rules and everyone can run each others races Kenyon cars included. Just my thoughts lots of races dirt and pavement. I would try a pavement race.

Dad the reason I will allow the 1352cc is just as you said ....WEIGHT DIFFERENCE.....the engine and quick change will nave to weight 1075 with driver and the most stock HP is 191 as a 1000 is 189...the bigger bore does allow for more torque but kick in the lost of HP thru the driverline vs. the chain it will equal out... Thanks Bill May for going to this concept...it will add more cars and drivers...and with me remember I am a NON WING ONLY SERIES

There are a bunch of Kenyon cars around. They are already set up to run motorcycle engines. Switch the Yamaha out with a Hybusa and you got a real good race car for much less mula.

We would love to race some pavement shows. It's hard to get the dirt out of the driver but it would be great if the Kenyons would open the rules a bit and allow chain drive cars we would probably even be willing to add weight just for the chance to race some pavement. I bet Mel has even raced aganist a few chain drive midgets in the past.

Handicap: We have done it for years with horses. A good promoter could, with just a little work and a few pounds of lead make almost every car more competive. He would have to be a benevolent dictator and do his thing in spight of all the hollering. I think a group out west does this alreay.
