I realize that this is a pavement series, but sad none the less for the racing community. The Top Speed Modified Series (formerly USA modifieds) apparently has ceases operations. Here is a link to that announcement.
That is a sad ending to what was once a great series.. At one time the modifieds used to get big car counts and you could race 3 nights a week in northwest Indiana in the early modified years.. What started out as a inexpensive class with a motor claim , ended up getting out of hand with big motors and a rule book that made them as expensive as a late model. Keith, Steve and later Wes tried hanging on to the series because they loved the modifieds and the people i bet. If i had to right down what 10 of my best memories in life were, i think half of them would be from racing with some of those guys "back in the good ol days"
I too am sad to see it end.. I ran the series with my wife for Jim, just before Steve bought it.. I truely know how hard he tried to keep it going.. Itoo spent many a good day and night with many great drivers for the Hoosier state and a few of us out of towners.. Hopefully someone with lots of time and insite will try and pick up the pieces.. Been hearing lots of rumors,, but just that.
How could a few rumers kill it? They have that in ever form of racing in my opinion. I hate to here this I always liked watching that group of guys run. Does any of this have to do with Angola not running?
