I would assume that the Sheldon Kinser Memorial, Little 500, 4-crown nationals would be in this list. What would you add to this list of events to attend? Yes, I am going to try and attend all of them.

1-7 Sprint Week. 8 Oval Nationals IMHO.
Assuming is just a uninformed guess. I've seen some local shows outshine nationals and vice vs. Its racing and any given night could be spectacular or barely better than a day at work Some on here would say the worst race at THAT was better than every other held. But it couldn't be bad unless you couldn't see it. . ![]() ![]()

I know its my home track, but I think the Sprintcar Smackdown at Kokomo in August is going to be pretty good. USAC seems to have their best schedule in years, and the quality of racing last year makes me think this is going to be a good year.

I wouldn't put the little 500 and the four crown on that list. Last years four crown was good but don't expect a repeat this year.

I would say the Oval Nationals would need to comprise about 10% of a list of 10 best.

I am personally looking forward to the July 50-lap USAC race at Eldora and all of sprint week and always like the Jack Hewitt Classic at Waynesfield.

Everyone has their thoughts, these are mine. To determine the Best NW Sprint Car Races in 2012 I would look at most $ paid on nearly sequential nights because that is what will draw the field of best drivers going for the winners share. Ignoring travel distance, your favorite track, track size, other classes racing that night(4 Crown), and anticipated track prep I came up with the following not specifically in this order:
Kokomo Smackdown-$20K in 3 nights one track - BE THERE! Sprint Week-$35K 7 different tracks in 9 nights(2 days off) USAC Plains Swing-$35K on 4 tracks in 5 nights Eldora 7/28-$10K+? 1 night Haubstadt 9/15-$10K 1 night Lawrenceburg 9/29-$10K 1 night I can count, I just couldn't limit it to which 10. I excluded the Eastern Swing. I just couldn't see it overall as fitting in the list above. I think there are 9 other weekends with 2 nights combined $10k to win and 8 other $5K on one night(4 Crown is in here). I am just looking at USAC and within Indiana. All of these would pay more than the Darland or Kinser (note there could be nothing in the world more cool than to have a Memorial race named for your father). As far as the Little 500, my personal opinion again I couldn't put it in the above list(big cars on a little paved track just didn't cut it). W.B. |
