I need a place to camp at Indy... Don't want to camp in the Coke lot, but looking for some thing in turn 4 area. Private parking that will let me put my travel trailer in their yard from Thursday until Monday morning. Thanks for any help you may have.

We've been camping in private residences almost every year since 1984, and coincidentally in the turn 4 area.

Depending on the size of your outfit you shouldn't have too hard of a time finding a place to set up and camp. Especially since your getting into Speedway on Thursday.

You may have to scout around the area a bit but there are many people willing to let you camp in their yards. Some will even let you plug in although most times their service won't allow for the running of your air conditioner but you can at least watch TV and run your fridge, etc.

Look around on West 22nd St., North Auburn St., McRay St., Fisher Ave., Winton Ave., or Allison Ave., or maybe West 24th. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few streets in that area but the ones I mentioned will give you a lay of the land, so to speak. There are campers set up in yards all over that area and it's maybe a 10-12 minute walk to the turn 4 gates of The Speedway. The closer to The Speedway the more it's gonna' cost you. If you stay over near Speedway High School on the corner of 25th and Lynhurst it will obviously be cheaper than if you find a place 2 blocks from The Speedway.

Luckily McGilvery's is only a hop and a skip from that area, too.

We'll be right in that general vicinity ourselves.

Good luck and have fun!!

I have a 30 ft camper. I stayed on the corner of Meyers Ave. and 22nd St. last year, but the lady was a pain in the a##. After I paid her $150 she wanted to complain about how much room I was taking up. She made me unhook my truck and park it right out my front door so she could park more race day cars in her yard. We went round and round all weekend long. I don't want to go through that again.

try lot 6 near McCray just off turn 4. it's pretty private and you have to have at least a pull behind or a motor home. we lost our spot and were forced last year to find another one. this is a speedway lot and costs $150.00 for 4 days. if you get there by thursday they should have some spots.

We've been parking on 24th St since the mid-80's . It's the last house on the right before you get to Aurora Ave (from Georgetown Rd). There is a house on the corner of Aurora and 24th but that is an Aurora address. This house is one back from the corner but the last house on 24th.... 24th deadends into Georgetown Rd at turn 4. We generally get there by taking 25th St to Aurora and then turning left off of Aurora onto 24th (first house on the left). There used to be a group from Missouri that set up campers in their back yard. Your camper my fit back there but, I'm not sure. If you PM me, I'll look up the contact info when I get home from work......Craig

its Auburn, not aurora, it's the first north-south street west of Georgetown (that goes from Crawfordsville Rd. to 25th St.), and easy access to the east-west streets into the neighborhood, bob.
