ROBERT SARGENT IS 36TH AUTO RACING PROMOTER OF THE YEAR

(Daytona Beach, FL, February 22, 2012) - The Speedweek Annual Workshop of the Thirty-Ninth Annual RPM Promoters Workshop Series concluded today with promoters expressing optimism for the prospects for the 2012 season. Highlights from the workshop included the revealing of Robert Sargent, the promoter of Macon (IL) Speedway, as 36th Auto Racing Promoter of the Year and the keynote remarks of NASCAR driver and SpeedTV personality Kenny Wallace. Wallace urged promoters to use their passion for the sport to remake it by de-emphasizing racing and making events an all-around entertainment experience.

When a track or sanctioning body decides to de-emphasize the racing, I de-emphasize attending.

I have to say congratulations to Bob. Anybody who is willing to stick his neck out as far as he has, for Champ Dirt Cars, deserves to be rewarded.
Just think like this. If there were no Bob Sargeant, there'd be only ONE race for these cars on dirt, Eldora. The way he preserves the tradition of these cars on the miles is what is really great.
