BOSS Adds Fremont Speedway to 2012 Tour
The 2012 season opener for the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series suddenly got 6 days closer than originally planned with the announcement of the May 12, 2012 date at the historic Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio. The 1/3 mile semi-banked clay oval will play host to their weekly 410 winged sprint series on the card as well, offering sprint enthusiasts a dream night of racing. Known as "The Track That Action Built", the Sandusky County speed palace has seen a host of famous racers compete throught the years.
Series promoter, Aaron Fry, was pleased to add the historic 61 year old facility to the tour stating, "Fremont Speedway is a unique track and unlike anything non wing sprints typically compete on, so it should be a great show watching the wingless drivers as they adapt to the track". He went on to add, "only in our second season, we are excited to add Fremont to our schedule because with its rich history and stellar reputation, it will be a nice fit with the other first rate facilities along the tour".
In other BOSS news, tire bonuses are still being negotiated for 2012, but the tour will stay with the popular open tire rule. In order to be eligible for tire bonus money, a car must be equipped with all four tires from the same manufacturer. The rule remains, where cars must utilize the same right rear tire in the heat and feature events. In case of time trials, cars must also use the same right rear for qualifying. More details on bonuses and tire procedures will be announced soon, but BOSS officials wanted to make it clear that all tires are welcome so teams may begin negotiating their tire deals for the season.
