Am I correct in thinking that lagrange indiana
is up in the northern part of the state? Not complaining, just want to make sure I have the right place in mind. |

I was looking at that earlier. Going to be an expensive trip up that way for a lot of these teams.

Yeh, Jake, I was talking to Teegarden yesterday, that's even a long haul for him, plus now, his driver lives in Bloomington, so he'll have to fly him up and back, which won't happen, I'm sure. Guess we'll just hit a few of the close ones, Kyle spends more time either in the air, or behind the wipers, than he does anything any more, so we'll be a once in a while thing along with a lot of others. Bob!

You said it, I didn't. Anderson is still a long way from LaGrange, Teegarden lives in Portland, I live in Seymour, several guys live in Columbus, some even further South, 20 yrs ago, we didn't think anything of it, driving 200 miles one way to race, but gas was about a buck a gallon then also, we used to make at least 2 trips a season to Atomic Speedway, in OakRidge, Tn, that was wild, but I don't see many making the long hauls anymore, they just don't have the expendable income they used to have, hell, we ran go-karts all over the US for years, never even took in a dime, all expenses paid by your's truly, we could make a road trip to Florida and back, and not spend more than 3-400 bucks, it costs that much now, and not even get out of the state. The one advantage you have now, is with 3 organizations, you can race somewhere, with someone, almost every weekend, and not have to travel very far, I don't know what effect it will have on car counts yet, that remains to be seen, but at least we have somewhere to race, it will no doubt make everyone make the decision not to run with one group, but that has it's upside also, if you're lucky, you won't get caught up in ******** of any of the 3, and just go somewhere, unload, pay the fees, follow the rules, pick up your money, if you're lucky, and go plan the next trip. I've been doing the TQ's now, since 1991, and a lot of change has happened, we had at one time, about a 2 week span, where all we did was race, we'd run all over the state, and run 9-10 races in a 14 day time period, and it was a blast, and it didn't cost much, much different today. Maybe we'll get to run together sometimes this summer, somewhere, we don't have any sponsors anymore, my driver is on the road almost all the time, or in the fields, nursing 800 acres along with worn out equipment, but we still manage, somehow. Happy Trails! Bob!

Thanks for confirming the location. I wanted to make sure I was looking at the right city.
From Google earth it looks like a nice track. Its about the same size as Greensburg which is one of my favorites and personally (my opinion only) would be better than some of the tracks I've seen TQs try to run. Given that I'm in the middle of Indiana (north/south wise). I'm looking forward to the trip there and hope to make that race. For me, its no longer than Bloomington, Brownstown, Madison, Charlestown, etc. |

Ask ole Rambrose how it used to be, when he ran TQ's, he lived in Owensboro, Ky, and probably never missed a race in 10 yrs or so, we all seem to suffer eomewhere, sometime, problem is nowdays, there doesn't seem to be that much spare time, nor money to go around, unless you can find some sponsors, it really bites ya hard, and it don't look like sponsors are going to be out spending money again this year, we probably won't see any relief till after the next ********, then it'll either be better, or woorser! Bob!

You guys are lucky! At least you live in Indiana. Last year I didn't get one trip in from West Virginia. Between health and gas prices I was grounded. But fear not...I plan on some trips in 2012 again. The TQ's are one of the best things going on in the country for those who aren't rich but want to play. Rich in tradition, TQ's are real race cars, provide great entertainment for the fans and don't drive you to the poor house. Now if I was only about 300 miles closer I'd be really happy.
