I saw a few of these races, in addition to IMCA events at Tampa, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Knoxville (Illinois), and Granite City. Being from central Illinois, I was particularly interested in watching Blundy, Moughan, and Lynch. These 3 IMCA regulars were also frequently seen at events at "Little Springfield" and/or the 1/5 mile joint about a block east of Route 66 in Lincoln, IL.

Darn, I'm starting to get old, ain't I ?!

Was at the 71 race when Wise won. I was 14, and my father and I had went with a couple of friends, Randy Tennill, and Bernie Graybeal. Randy was killed late in the race. I have been to almost every one since. Bernie went on to be a pretty good shoe before his deathe from cancer.

Thanks for sharing. This was just prior to my arrival in the Hoosier State. Started attending the Little 5 in 1974 and have been to all but one since that time. A great read for sure.

Be nice to people on the way up. You might need them on the way down. Jimmy Durante
