Sun Prairie, WI native Cody Wisensel had a nasty looking wreck at Angell Park last night in the Badger Midget event. He was involved in a relatively minor 3-car tangle in Turn 4 of his heat race. After being pushed off to rejoin the field under yellow he zig-zagged the car down the front stretch apparently seeing if anything was broke. Then he stood on the gas coming out of Turn 2 and down the back stretch when it appeared (to me) that the throttle stuck. He hit the Turn 3 wall wide open and cartwheeled a couple of times before landing on his top.

I couldn't see much from where I was sitting but I heard the fans in Turn 4 clap at one point. The announcer said that he was out of his car, but he was whisked away in the ambulance shortly after that. The race report said that he was "transferred to University Hospital (Madison, Wis.) for undisclosed injuries."

Here's praying for a speedy recovery and if anyone has any updates, please let us know.

Per Cody Wisensel's Mom on Facebook:

"Concussion, bulging disk in his back and lot and lots of bruising and strap burns. His right arm and knee took a hard impact and is messed up. They thought the bone between his elbow & shoulder was broken but its not. His white of his eyes were already turning red last night. Time will heal all "

[B]est wishes Cody. You got it all together, and did a fine job qualifying. Hope to see you in the infield.
