MOPAR D1 MIDGETS HEAD TO MONTPELIER - AUGUST 13

HAMILTON, ANDERSON CLAIM PLYMOUTH, MORRIS FEATURES

Taylor Ferns of Shelby Township, Mich. continues to lead the USAC Mopar D1 Midget standings as she attempts to join Sondi Eden in the USAC record books as USAC’s only female driving champions. Eden won the 2004 Indianapolis Speedrome Midget title.

Ferns finished 10th in Friday night’s race at Plymouth (Ind.) Speedway, then came back with a third-place at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Ill. Saturday night. That left her with a comfortable 166-point lead over Jake Blackhurst, who did not compete last week,

Kyle Hamilton of Danville, Ind. led the final 33 laps to win Friday night’s 40-lap USAC Mopar D1/Stars Midget feature at Plymouth Speedway in his Hamilton Painting/Esslinger Engineering Spike. Tate Martz finished second and led two laps, while Jim Anderson, Brad Greenup and Billy Hulbert rounded out the “top-five.” Hulbert led the first five laps of the race.

Jim Anderson of Joliet, Ill. won Saturday night’s 30-lap “Border Battle” for USAC Mopar D1 and STARS Midgets at Grundy County Speedway in his Packard Transport/Mr. B’s Bar & Grill Beast/Mopar. He passed Kyle O’Gara on lap four and led the rest of the way. Fast qualifier Aaron Andruskevitch finished second ahead of Ferns, Hamilton and Brad Greenup.

Also on the schedule will be the Ford Focus Midgets and Open Wheel Modifieds.
