RONNIE COMBS WINS AT SHELBYVILLE

On Saturday evening August 6th the Midwest TQ Racing League presented by Vincennes University competed at the Shelby County Fairgrounds in Shelbyville, Ind. Ronnie Combs, driving the Tony Stewart Racing Busy Bee Realty/Acro Engineering/Greensburg Autosound Beast Honda, started the feature in tenth place and quickly worked his way through the field. A lap four pass of Logan Arnold gave him the lead, which he never relinquished, en route to his fourth feature win of the year.

Chasing Combs to the checkers were Bobby Walton, Tate Martz, Bill James and Rob Walton. Dennis Atchley, Bruce Leisure, Jon Steed, Caleb Faulkner and Zach Cougill completed the top ten.

The Duane & Sonja Alexander Hard Luck Driver award went to Kyle McIntosh after he flipped on an aborted feature start. Atchley, who passed eleven cars in the feature, was the Pace Performance Coating Hard Charger and Arnold was the Tony Stewart Racing Rookie of the Race. Jeff Bruce won the drawing for the $50 Jackson Oil & Solvents gift certificate.

Martz set quick time with a lap of 17.785 seconds in qualifications, Jason Willis won the Jackson Oil & Solvents Duel for Fuel, qualifying race winners were Corey Eaglin and Faulkner, and heat wins went to Combs and Cougill.

The next race on the MTQRL schedule will be Saturday August 13th at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Madison, Ind.

how did the 17 not get last when he was the first car off the track? i took the green after that, and was taken out in an accident but yet he is shown finishing ahead of me. just curious, its only 1 point difference so not really worth doing much about.

The finish is by number of laps completed & sequence of completion.

Going from memory the results showed the 40, 17 & 65 with zero laps. The 40 started 7th, the 17 started 13th, & you started 15th. Since no laps were completed the finish order of those cars is based on the starting lineup.

It makes no difference if you restarted or not, just the number of laps you completed.

ok but sandy he would have been considered part of the caution, which would have put him to the back of the field for stopping on the track. which that means at that time he would have been behind me. i see your point but doesnt go with the rules we have been going with. is this a veriable in the rules?

The finish is only based on number of laps completed and sequence of completion. Restart lineups do not factor into the finishing order.

With no laps completed the only thing you can base the finish on is the starting lineup.

This has always been the rule and to the best of my knowledge has been followed at every MTQRL race. This rule is not specific to the MTQRL. Any racetrack or organization that scores their races correctly follows this procedure (from IndyCar to go karts).
