An enjoyable evening at the Big E this evening. Justin Grant continues to shine with a hard fought victory in the 40 car. He had the trifecta this evening in posting quick time, winning his heat and picking up the victory in the Road to the Hewitt feature. Matt Westfall was pressuring him during the middle portion of the race before he detonated an engine while trying to take the lead. Brandon Whited turned in a great performance to finish second ahead of Todd Kane on the podium.

In the NRA sprint invaders feature it was Randy Hannagan picking up the victory. He was followed across the line by Kyle Sauder, Butch Schroeder, Luke Hall and JR Stewart. Caleb Griffith took a nasty ride coming out of two and down the back stretch. Thankfully he was able to walk away after some attention by medical personnel. The car unfortunately was looked to be a total loss.

18 traditional sprint cars on hand and 22 winged warriors. A nice crowd on hand and the weather turned out to be great. Both features were completed before 10:00 PM. Also, HARF, DARF & BARC night allowed for a $10.00 admission price and DARF also provided a nice dinner at no charge for their members in the ballroom.

Be nice to people on the way up. You might need them on the way down. Jimmy Durante

I agree that it was a great night at the Big E with a very well prepared and maintained track surface. I would like to publicly thank Tony Stewart, Larry Boos and the Big E crew for hosting the two traditional sprint programs this year. These shows give some of the lower budget teams an opportunity to run a track that many of us in the racing community have dreamed about when we were growing up. Just like Little Leaguers dream about standing at the plate with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth and coming thru with the game winning hit to win the World Series, fans of sprint car racing dream of running laps at Eldora and if so bless winning a feature at the place. Justin Grant had that opportunity tonight and drove a masterful race. Grants dive bomb slide job in three under a lap car to take the line away from Luke Hall who took the traditional high line around the lapper was amazing. A hard charging Matt Westfall tried to sneak past both coming out of four with all three coming together as Luke Hall tried the crossover on
Grant. Unfortunately, Luke was the meat in this sandwich and after all three touched he got upside down. It was an exciting racing move that as a kid I know I dreamed about as I watched the likes of Sheldon Kinser, Tom Bigelow, Pancho Carter, Jan Opperman and many more test the level of their courage at this historic track. If not for nights like this, the lower budget teams would never be given the opportunity to live a dream and for that I am deeply grateful that these two races are on the Big E schedule.
