The Midwest TQ Racing League presented by Vincennes University starts a busy month of racing on Saturday evening July 9th at the Shelby County Fair in Shelbyville, Ind. The MTQRL three-quarter midgets have six races scheduled in July including a stretch of five races in seventeen days.

Defending champion Tate Martz of Rushville is the current point leader and won the season opener at the Shelby County Fairgrounds on May 14th. Since that date Martz has been very consistent, with four top five finishes in four starts, but has yet to return to victory lane.

CJ Leary, Jason Willis and Ronnie Combs are the most recent feature winners with Combs currently the hottest driver on the MTQRL circuit. In only three starts Combs has two wins and a second place finish. If he can repeat his win at the Shelby County Fairgrounds on June 11th Combs will become the first driver in the history of the MTQRL to win three consecutive races.

Local drivers expected to compete include Shelbyville’s Bobby Walton, Waldron’s Chris Mann, Morristown’s Brayton Leisure, Manilla’s Kyle Lux, Milroy’s Jon Steed, and Martz, Chad Hankins and Will Wilson of Rushville. A strong crop of rookie drivers are also anticipated to vie for the Tony Stewart Racing Rookie of the Race honors.

Along with the MTQRL three-quarter midgets the Rouse Promotions FWD/Hornets will be making a return visit to Shelbyville where Brian Sims will be looking for his fourth win in a row.

Practice is scheduled for 5:00 pm, qualifications at 6:00 pm, and racing is set to begin at 7:00 pm with the Jackson Oil & Solvents Duel for Fuel. General admission is $8.00 (12 and over), children are $5.00, and 6 and under are free. Pit passes are $25.00 for all ages.
