I cant believe no one had updates for the big event?
Rediculous, tractor pulls instead of being apart of Ohio sprint week! jmo
Its such a shame whats happened to my home track, where I spent most weekends since I was little. I think I will end up attending 3 races there this year instead of all of them.

AGREED.. I went to Lima Friday night and they said over the loud speaker that Earl was the brain child and promoter of the "first ever sprint week". They said Ohio was the first then Indiana and Pennsylvania latched on. I thought the same thing as you did on the tractor pull at Eldora and not having a sprint week race

I'd much rather see a Speedweek show there than a tractor pull too, but I gotta blame Guy Webb more than anything for that. He's screwed up everything under the sun when it comes to the All Stars - I dont blame these tracks one bit for dropping his shows from their schedule. If anything, maybe just an open 410 show sprinkled in the schedule somewhere in June would be nice.
On a side note, my brother took his kids out there to that tractor pull last night and said the grandstands were pretty full.

Tony made way more $$$ last nite with a tractor pull than he could have made with Webb's All Stars. There was a Monster Truck show at a local track last nite that had more people than all 3 or 4 of the local stock car tracks put together. Poor race formats, run aways from front row, no racing just chasing. People are fed up with it. Real race fans want racing, a few fender benders and entertainment, not these poorly formatted give a ways to a few rich locals who want to brag all week how they won from the front row.

I really have nothing against the tractor pulls. But, for years they held them on the front stretch at Springfield the Friday night before the Bettenhausen Memorial. It tore the crap out of the track and they never really got it smoothed out over night. The Silver Crown cars would dance down the front straight every lap. They moved the TP's to the multi-purposes arena now and it eliminated the problem. Rich Tobias took a terrible tumble down the front straight at Springfield several years ago and I always half way blamed the condition of that section of the track on the pulls for that deal.
My point is if they pull those things on an area of the track at Eldora that is used by the racecars they had better put some added effort into getting it smoothed out cause it can be a little treacherous, especially for the lighter open wheel cars.
As far as the crowd for some of those deals, they can be surprising. The demolition derby's at Route 66 dirt track at Chicagoland in Joliet, IL draw huge crowds and no one could make a go of it with racing of any kind there. Must be that Chitcago mentality I reckon.

I believe they hauled dirt into eldora for the pulling strip. They probably needed to level, tractor doesn't need banking, and to protect the track for racing later.

I wondered if that was not the case. As you say, even the straightaways are banked too much for tractor pulls and obviously this would a non-issue. My bad.

I think Rich Tobias' crash had more to do with trying to pass a bunch of cars on the inside on a restart and he ran out of race track. If I recall correctly in ended with 4 cars upside down in the first corner and a lot of short tempers. If that Tobias car hadn't been well put together it may have been Rich's last ride.
