Friday, June 24th, 2011, is the Sheldon Kinser Memorial @ the Bloomington Speedway, paying $4,000 to win, and $350 to start.

Two years ago several race fans decided to collect money for fast time during the SKM race, and in 2009 $600 was collected and awarded to Jeff Bland, Jr. In 2010, $800 was collected from race fans and awarded to Jon Stanbrough for his fast time.

So, this year, with permission from Judy Miles, a group of race fans will be attempting to collect money for fast time for the 2011 SKM race.

A few race fans will be attempting to collect money for fast time, at the track on Friday, but if you want to give money for this years fast time award, and you would feel better giving your money to Mike or Judy Miles, please do so at the track on Friday.

Thank you!

It is very nice for the fans to collect money for fast time. The thing that happens is, if you get a bad draw and the track is slow or the track has not come in, you are at a disavatage. Something that might work better is..Take the fastest qulifer from each hot lap group and let them run one or two laps at the end of qulifying. Use this time for all the money, but keep the origonal time for the offical qulifying. This would be about 5 cars depending on how many groups there were. There should be a lot of cars there. This would put them on an even track for all the money. Just a thought, mabey there is a better format for this and the track would have to buy into it. Just a thought...Phil Poor

That is a great thing to do SPD37. It is a great way for fans to give a little incentive and appreciation to the drivers. With it already being a good purse and it always being a plus to qualify well for your starting spot in the feature, this helps put some money in the pocket of the guy who lays it all out there. This could be a real shot in the arm for some team in the current economy. If it helps a team be able to race another night and entertain another crowd of fans, I am in. Where will the fans be set up? Will they be walking through the crowd or asking at the gate? How will we be able to find them to make a donation?

Thanks Red Clay! The plan now is to have a table set up near the main gate ticket booth, so fans can make their donations, or when they see Mike or Judy they can give the money to them. We plan to stop collecting money at 6 pm.

Thanks again!

Is there a decal with the award name kinda like a feature win decal but something with the Bloomington fans fast time award. Just a thought, the money is good but it would be nice to give the driver something that will last a little longer than the money.

As always thank you to the fans for all your support.

Nothing in the plans like that for right now, but maybe we could do something for the 2012 SKM race.

Thanks Jerry!
