IOW friends.... A publisher from CA has agreed to edit, design and distribute my book about the current economic and political state of affairs in open wheel racing in America. While there is plenty of resource material available, I welcome all of your insight and opinion to add the flavor necessary to make this book like no other written. Any help I get from you will not be without due recognition of contributions. You may contribute on or off the record. The history of the present King of CART (Penske Loyalists) is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these American Race Cars."

Thats awesome, I've been lucky enough to have a couple storys published by major hunting magazines and I know it isnt easy to get published. God I got some good storys during the days before wings, and seen the transformation to wings. Even though you go faster and had to do it to compete alot of guys hated having to do it. Also I was there when the first weld and grant king modifieds arrived, and I knew the golden age of modifieds was over, and the cookie cutter age had arrived. I wonder if some of you guys and gals understand how lucky you are to have nonwinged sprintcar tracks. I have never been to, but if someday if I can I'm dying to see a race at Kokomo, I know it'll have the same vibe that flemington in Jersey had before it was paved. There was a time when the modifieds at flemington only weighted 1400lbs or so and had injected big block's there were a couple guys that could run laps without liftin and man they flew., god I miss it ! Its something you cant explain, the feeling you get when your at a special place watchin real race cars. Anyhow I'm rambling on some, if stuff like that interests you pm me.

Well, plan on coming to Indy for my book launch party and hit Kokomo and some of the other dirt tracks while you're here!

Ummm......

Is this the same USAC that virtualy banned turbine powered race cars, yet allowed rear engine cars to take over Indy Car racing. After rear engined cars were all there was this same USAC them banned rear engine sprint cars from their series.

It's very possible that if they would have allowed rear engine sprint cars to flourish then Hewitt, Darland, Tony E., Kevin Thomas, etc would have gotten the rear engine oval track experience and things would have been very different today.

Today there is a need for a purpose built pavement and purpose built dirt sprint car. So the argument 35-40 years ago about not having to have two distinct race cars to run USAC sprint series doesn't hold much water.

Let the arrows fly as I know I've opened a can of worms here.

Thank you so much. There were and still are plenty of old controversies about what to race, where, who and how and that's one of the things that makes racing so awesome. As long as those flying 'arrows' are American and the 'can' is made in America and the 'worms' are American, I'll be as happy as an American clam!

Part of the history of Indianapolis 500 is that teams and drivers came here from all over the world because it was actually a challenge to beat American cars and drivers on the track. Now they come cause it's an easy win and I don't really feel like taking it lying down anymore.

The best part is Danny they said rear engine sprint cars would cost the teams too much money. Then everybody that use to run for the title had to have a dirt and pavement car until this year. Nice saving of cost.
Rear engine cars would of made a big difference in the Indy Car talnet pool.

USAC gets a bad rap for banning the RE cars but I do remember the fans letters to NSSN ******** how much they hated them.

CRA banned RE sprinters also as did Oswego Speedway.
