C'mon people! Eldora cancels Saturday's show mid-afternoon and gets crucified on this site. LPS decides to try and get their show in on a very wet racetrack and gets crucified on this site. Is it any wonder that promoters quit and close or sell their tracks?
I readily admit I did not drive to either track and did not view for myself the condition of either facility. I did read every post on both subjects on IOW. Did one or the other promoter make a mistake in their decision....maybe. Regardless, Indiana open wheel fans should be thankful for (and supportive of!) promoters like Joe Spiker, Keith Ford, the O'Conners and the rest. They are at least trying to bring us the sport we all love while trying to make a living while doing so. If any of you that get on this forum and say "I'm never driving to" or "I'm never spending another dime" at this track or that think you can do a better job, I'm sure any of the promoters would be willing to let you put up your money for a week or month or season and take your best shot. Finally, to those that take the time and effort to post results during the racing program, a huge THANK YOU! I know there are those on here that complain and moan about errors you make, but I appreciate your efforts greatly and PLEASE keep on checking in with quals, heats, B and A main results. ![]() |

So its not ok for those who ACTUALLY SUPPORTED THE SPORT and THOSE PROMOTORS? To share their opnion of How things were and how they felt treated.
I attended both Fri's Eldora Show and for the second straight year sat through hours of what I consider SHODDY WORK only to have the event cancelled. (Thats two years in a row now mind you that the track itself was the problem and the EVENT was not completed) Im a bit upset at spending a hundred on the ordeal. I can't imagine teams away from home spending thousands to be there. The second was Burg, After 3/4 of a inch of rain from 10am till 3pm we started a hour late on a track that was magnificent. I shared how great I felt about it 99 percent good and shared a couple concerns. LPS im sure had their problems with new clay on the track and wet conditions. Still those who chose to stay, saw a complete show. Something that two years in a row at Eldora I drove a 130 miles each way only not to see, Not because it was cancelled but because The one thing a show needs to be held for wasn't in racing shape. I've been at tracks with no grandstands, No restrooms, No Giant Tron, No concession and seen a RACE COMPLETED. I can't say my experiences at the E lately have been nearly as enjoyable. If they deserve a pat on the back, Give it to them. If it was something they done wrong, They have nobody to blame but themselves. As long as the complaints are legitimate (WAS THERE) and Respectful. IMHO thats called constructive criticism from actual cash paying fans, who were at the event, Hoping they improve on the problem USAC called a race saturday with a big ole blob of stroms coming across indiana and ohio and the track that was nearly unraceable the previous evening due to WET conditions. Gave everyone other options instead of possilbly the same or worse as Friday night. Some of the racers and fans both either got to race or saw one. Everyone knows there are **** happens moments, Showing up at a track that hadn't had a bit of water put on it till a hour and a half prior to race time and shows getting cancelled because of dust. Isn't a **** happens moment ---------- Post added at 04:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:09 PM ---------- Please note that when i say Shoddy work. It isn't necessarily that people didn't work hard, as much as they didn't do the right things.

Its not like this our first rodeo here... I was going to go to Eldora Saturday night but wanted to see how Friday worked out... I knew Saturdays race at Putnamville would be a mess because there is no way in H... that with all the water it was going to go smoothly. You have to give alot of respect to Putnamville for trying to get a show in but sometimes you have to throw in the towel and try again next week. Bloomington and Paragon Speedway are are really good about cancelling early and knowing when to say when. Shut your mouths or stop going..... we all have radar and we all have been down these roads before.
