THE BULLRING
OF OCALA MICRO SPEEDWAY

The Triple X Southern States Lightning Sprints will be bringing the already hotly contested points series back to the BULLRING of Ocala Micro Speedwaythis Sat night 4/9/2011. Yes, points...seems to be since the announcement of Triple X and the SSLS that a chassis is going to be given to the points champion, that has been the buzz around this series. Wayne Davis, the promoter of the series can't believe guy's are racing for points this early in the season. "You here it in Nascar, World of Outlaws, even USAC, but a young, kinda local series as we are, who would've thought." Davis went on the say that the car count has increased by having Triple X on board and by the lo cal of the Speedway, along with the admission price. "Look, with the price of gas today most of these guy's live close to this area so (1) it's less then a hour drive, (2) the admission to the pits are only 10.00 compared to most others that is 25.00. The track does charge a 25.00 entry fee per car but SSLS has waived the $10.00 administrative fee to help the racers out on the expense. We want you to come race and enjoy your evening at the track without having to rob Peter to pay Paul to get there."
Davis's outlook on racing seems to coincide with most of his 40 years of racing on a budget. "Well even now I need tires on the car for my son but just can't afford to put them on there cause I want to put every extra dime toward the series and the guy's who come race with us." In comparison to another similar series, it seems he is right when it comes to cost effectiveness. The price to get in, the rules to keep the high dollars out of the cars, close proximity of the speedway to keep fuel expense at a limit and the payout is even better with $250.00 to win and $50.00 to start based on a 24 car field.
The series will be racing every other weekend at the Ocala Micro Speedway. Mainly a non-winged series class but June has been designated as "WING MONTH" as all races held in the month of June will be raced with a wing, with one of those races paying $500.00 to win. Look for this series to grow and more special races like the one in the works for Thanksgiving. A 2 day show paying $1000.00 to win on Friday and $2000.00 to win on Sat. with a bonus of $1000.00 if one driver wins bought. $4000.00 dollars up for grabs.
