STARS Chief Steward Named

In a continuing effort to put together the 2011 season, Short Track Auto Racing Series has filled the position of Chief Steward and Race Director. This person taking these key roles and watching over the on track activities will be Bernie Myers.
Bernie brings many years of racing experience to the STARS events. Bernie has been Chief Mechanic and Team Manager for Dale Coyne Racing. Bernie has over 25 years of racing experience and he has seen the sport form many different perspectives.
“It’s great to be involved with STARS and it’s a privilege to be asked to become the Chief Steward/Race Director.” Said Bernie Myers “We’ve just finished our rule‘s package, and we have our procedures in place for STARS first season. During my racing career I spent a lot of time working with both Rookie and Veteran drivers. This knowledge will lead to a very good understanding about what happens on the race track”.
“Bernie brings everything anyone could ask for into this role. He has race experience on the biggest stage the sport has to offer and he has a passion for the local, grassroots aspects of the sport. We are very fortunate to have someone like Bernie involved with our racing series”, said Joe Kirkeeng, President of STARS, LLC.
Bernie spent twenty years working on the Dale Coyne Racing CART team and seven years at Indy during the month of May. Those opportunities led to Bernie receiving the “Clint Brawner Mechanical Achievement Award” and the “Premier Fasteners Mechanic of The Year Award” which can be found in the Hall of Fame at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame. Bernie was also recognized by CARTS “Most improved Chief Mechanic”.
