First off, what's the schedule? Second question is, I'm only going to be able to go to part of the week and I'm looking for some advice on what races to make it to. Thanks for all the help! This will be my first speedweeks and I'm Really looking forward to it. After 34 years I'm giving up on the Knoxville Nationals and getting back to my racing roots.

From The USAC web site:

Jul 08 2011 Gas City, IN Gas City I-69 Speedway 1/4 Dirt
Jul 09 2011 Kokomo, IN Kokomo Speedway 1/4 Dirt
Jul 10 2011 Lawrenceburg, IN Lawrenceburg Speedway 3/8 Dirt
Jul 13 2011 Terre Haute, IN Terre Haute Action Track 1/2 Dirt
Jul 14 2011 Brownstown, IN Brownstown Speedway 1/4 Dirt
Jul 15 2011 Bloomington, IN Bloomington Speedway 1/4 Dirt
Jul 16 2011 Haubstadt, IN Tri-State Speedway 1/4 Dirt

Go to all of them I'd say.

All of the races are good...I would definitely recommend Terre Haute, a big wide fast half mile. Just checked the website and the Vigo County Fair is that week also...some great fair food and great racing. Its hard to go wrong with any of them.

Do NOT miss Haubstadt. If Daron Clayton is at Haubstadt, definately do not miss Haubstadt. Watching the MDC at Tri-State is worth the price of admission.

Kokomo, Terre Haute, Brownstown and Haubstadt were my picks for the best races during last years sprint week. Someone said MDC at Tri-State, I personally think Blake Fitzpatrick has taken over the excitement role there. He can flat get around that place.

Grizzley, it depends on what you want to see. Since I come from PA. I like going to Indiana for the smaller tracks, because its mostly, big, fast, half miler's here at home. I usually do the first weekend, Gas City, Lawrenceburg and Kokomo.

Gas City..Hit or miss on track condition's, but USUALLY alot of action.
Lawrenceburg..My favorite..A little speed, a little action, alotta beer.
Kokomo...One word..AWESOME

Terre Haute.. turned into your typical, big, fast, dry, half mile. But with O'Conner's preping the track, it could be a three cushion track, one low, one middle, one high. Can't wait to get back there to find out.
Brownstown..Typical Late Model track. For sprint cars it slicks off from top to bottom. Best race of Sprint Week last year, if ya like sprint cars at 45 MPH.
Bloomington..So I don't offend the homies, Ill just say, after warm-ups, there is more RED CLAY in the parkinglot than on the track..BLACK BLACK BLACK..Sprint cars at 25 MPH
Habstaudt..Again one word...AWESOME

Thats my take on things, But you really can't go wrong doing either end of Sprint Week. GREAT people, GREAT times...Have fun..

I agree almost completely with Pine. I heard that Gas City got much better the end of the year, so the chances of a good track may be better. Personally, Lawrenceburg is not my favorite because of the usual lack of a lot of passing, but they go fast and some people love the place. Kokomo just has to be seen, it is wonderful. I thought that Terre Haute got much better with each race after the O'conners started preparing the track. I think that this year it will be back as one of the great tracks of America, despite what daylight savings time has done for Indiana racing. Brownstown was exciting last year. Bloomington, 'nuff said. Haubstadt, again, just a great track.

Last year Twin Cities (North Vernon) had a race the day before Terre Haute. Looked like a pretty good crowd to me, so I expect they will have it again this year. I had a good time there last year.

Don't know how flexible your schedule is, but you may want to consider starting with Kokomo and ending with Terre Haute or Brownstown, depending on how may days you can take. The HUGE problem with that is that you miss Haubstadt, however. There really is no good answer for just one of the two weekends.

If I could only go to 3, it would be Kokomo on Saturday, July 9 (track prep O'Conners); Terre Haute on Wednesday July 13 (track prep O'Conners); and Haubstadt on July 16 (track prep by the legend, Tom Helfrich). If you are from Indiana or somewhere fairly close, you might be able to do something like that.

Really you can"t go wrong with any of them! But since you can"t make all of them go to part of them this year and hit the other half next. But after seeing which part you pick I guarantee you"ll be makeing the whole thing next year! You"ll be saying forget Knoxville
