Chili Bowl Logistics/Timeframe Question

I need some help from some of you guys who compete in or have cars at the Chili Bowl regularly. I usually go for a day or 2 every year but this year will be different for me. I have been lucky enough to be offered a car to drive without paying an outrageous rental. One major thing on my bucket list will get crossed off in January and I am really psyched.
So I have some logistical questions. I'm having a difficult time making plans and arrangements until I get some info so any help would be appreciated. Question 1; Move in Day...I know it's Sunday. With the shootout people get their trailers in line up to a week before hand. Please tell me that isn't necessary for the Chili Bowl. I really don't care where I get parked but I need to be parked beside my teammate so we can share resources. Do the 2 of us need to be inline together 2 get to park together? And do they haul all the average size trailers in with a tractor or forklift or do they just position them after I dolly down? Can I show up Saturday evening or Sunday morning and get moved in and unloaded comfortably before they close the building for the night? Question 2; Monday/Practice day... What time do they start? do they divide practice up by qualifying night or is it just a free for all the whole day? Assuming I don't have to do any major work or repairs how many sets of hotlaps can i expect to get (ballpark)? Question 3; Pit amenities... At the shootout you have to pay like 25-50 bucks for them to unlock an electrical outlet for you to use. Is it the same deal for the Chili Bowl or do they provide electricity? Am I going to get arrested for cleaning the mud chunks off my car in the floor? Am I going to have to pay for a Hazmat cleanup crew and a fine from the EPA if the rear end leaks a bit of fluid on the floor? And how many of you loyal Chili Bowl attendees can I count on to help me shove my car to and from the ramps? I should probably only take the first 20-30 people that offer free help cause I don't want to be too crowded. HAHAHAHA And my final question until i remember the others.... When I win my prelim night feature and run top 5 in the Saturday A how much is it going to pay? And how many sharpies do I need to bring to handle all the autographs I'm gonna have to sign after I run so good as a complete unknown??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... Ok...I probably don't need the last couple answered....hahahaha... the move in day and Monday practice day are the days that I have not witnessed or been a part of previously. Thanks in advance for all your help guys. |

Dude
Now that you have announced you will win, maybe the entries will drop by a hundred or so. I'm almost certain you will have to be in line with your team mate, it turns into a zoo when they start moving in. They use a fork truck with a ball hooked to one of the forks, it is amazing to watch what those guys can do with a fork truck Never done the Monday practice, so can't help you there although I've heard it is difficult to get more than 3 sessions Yes they charge for electric, we always buddy up with whomever paid for it and kick in 10 bux The mud works real well, just sweep it in a pile and it disappears by the next morning. Oil leaks just kitty litter, oil change has a drum by the fuel door for disposal Good luck and remember to have fun and treat your team mates with respect and love Jeff |

They are always trying to save space, so if you can pit 2 cars out of 1 trailer, that would help. Anything under 20 foot I think also automatically goes against the outer wall. We have been successful in squating on a pit spot along the fence separating the pits and trade show area so long as they are not already reserved for VIP. Send someone with a lawn chair and an attitude to fight off the landrushers.
