The 2010 MTQRL banquet, honoring champions Roger Ramsey and Tate Martz, was held in Vincennes, IN on October 9th on the campus of historic Vincennes University. The dinner was held at the Green Auditorium, with the Elements of Jazz from Seymour, IN, providing the music. A police escort from the Vincennes University campus police led everyone to the awards ceremony, which was held onstage at the beautiful Red Skelton Performing Arts Center. A wonderful and interesting presentation was given about the life of the comic, Red Skelton, who was born in Vincennes. Not only was Red Skelton a comic performer, he was a gifted writer and painter. Some of his paintings are on display at the Performing Arts Center and the gift shop was open after the awards ceremony, where you could purchase his books, etc. The awards ceremony itself was fabulous!! The championship car, owned by Roger Ramsey and driven by Tate Martz, was on display on the stage of the Performing Arts Center. The backdrop was beautifully lit with different colors, with giant pictures of Red Skelton over the stage. The Vincennes University President, Dr. Richard Helton, spoke, and Miss VU presented awards and sang a beautiful song for Ramsey and Martz. The Tony Stewart Foundation Leader of the Pack Challenge, a program that the MTQRL implemented in 2010 to raise money for the Tony Stewart Foundation, raised around $5,000 in the first year. Thank you to everyone who donated!! Following the awards presentation was a reception at the Performing Arts Center.
I want to thank Gary Lee, Mark and Jen Frechette, everyone from Vincennes University, and everyone who made the night so special. It truly was a one-of-a-kind, amazing evening that will never be forgotten!!
I also want to thank everyone who donated to the Rushville Food Pantry at the last race on September
25th. The MTQRL's canned food drive brought two truck loads of food to the pantry and raised money as well.

I totally agree, as does my wife, an over the top evening, that those that missed it, missed the event of the year, or years maybe, in racing in Indiana, only the National events might top it. Last year was great, and on a Grand Scale for the scale of racing, but this past one, well, it was the topper, Jen, Mark, Gary, all those that put it together, and the open hearted folks from Vincennes University, the President of the Shelby County Fairboard who attended, you really made it special, again, Thanks to all, you really did make us feel welcome.
