USA Raceway Back in Action……The Weeks Ahead!

Kevin Montgomery Tucson, ARIZ (August 9th, 2010) – After a two week hiatus from action, USA Raceway fires back to life with the hottest racing action in the Southwest. With race fans starving for the smell of racing fuel, the sound of unrestrained horse power and the sight of wheel to wheel racing action, USA Raceway is the place to be.

As the Western World Championships and the Wes Hurst Memorial quickly approach, it is time for competitors to tune their skills and their machines in preparation for two of the largest racing events in the country. For race fans, the next several weeks offers a diverse opportunity to see the best in the Southwest compete at Tucson’s USA Raceway.

Sit down and buckle up for the ride!

Saturday August 14th: The Barnett Harley Davidson UMP West Modifieds headline the show with RC Whitwell leading the charge with a slew of top guns on his trail. While Whitwell has the most wins on the year, Stormy Scott and Nick O’Neil are within striking distance of equaling Whitwell’s three victories.

The Super Stocks will again battle for the UniFirst cash with a $600 payday marked for the victor but not just the winner will walk away with some extra cash, UniFirst has made sure to outfit the entire field with a little more green.

Isaac Zaragoza will shoot for his fourth Factory Stock victory in a row while Stephen Lee aims to maintain his streak of 11 top five finishes in Front Wheel Drive Hornet action.

Jim Hock will try to hold off the Jones brothers in Rear Wheel Drive Hornet action. The trio equates for nine wins in eleven races with Jerry Jones leading in the win category with four. Hock remains nearly flawless with nine top five finishes making it difficult for Duane and Jerry Jones to catch the point leader, Hock.

Saturday August 21st: After rain spoiled the USA July 31st go and a previously canceled PVR date, the ASCS Wing warriors find themselves right at home with the addition of this August date. With Rick Ziehl holding a slight advantage over John Gaston for the 2010 Southwest Championships, it is a toss up for who will win the next race. With seven events in the books, five different winners have posted victories with Ziehl and Johnny Herrera being the only repeat winners in the series and no repeat winner at USA Raceway.

The X-Mods and Factory Stocks will both have an opportunity to race for a little extra cash with each winner garnering $500 and each position subsequently earning a little extra cash with the nearly doubled payout.

The Hornets and Dwarf cars will join the card for a full night of racing action.

Saturday August 28th: The Arizona Pipe Trades Local 469 will join USA Raceway as the Barnett Harley Davidson UMP West Modifieds return to action joined by the UniFirst Super Stocks, Hornets and Dwarfs.

The United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry Local #469 in Phoenix, has a long and proud history that goes back more than 100 years. The Plumbers and Pipefitters of Local 469 are vital to many industries throughout Arizona and it's because of a highly skilled workforce of more than 2,000 members.

Labor Day Weekend (September 4th and 5th): The wingless warriors of the American Sprint Car Series kick off the month of September with the double header Hank Arnold Memorial. Two complete nights of fast traditional sprint car action along with Factory Stocks, X-Mods, Modified Midgets and Modlites fill the holiday weekend.

After a six week break from action wingless sprint car racers and fans alike will get a double dose of action as we celebrate Hank Arnold. Arnold, a legendary racer as well as a master craftsman, was instrumental in bringing the future of open wheel racing full circle. He won more than 160 main events, held 17 track records and built cars with names like the "Twister" and "Little Stinker."

An open practice has been added on Friday August 13th and September 3rd giving all competitors an opportunity to gain an edge on the competition.

The USA Factory Stocks join the Hornets, Barnett Harley Davidson Modifieds and the Super Stocks this Saturday night August 14th. The action begins when general admission tickets go on sale at 4pm for only $12, racing will begin promptly at 6:45pm. Suite Access Passes will allow race fans the opportunity to enjoy the races from USA Raceway’s VIP Suite. Enjoy the races in luxury for only $25!
