PLEASE DON'T CRY FOR ME by: Jack Miller

"If my soul has now left this existence on earth, please don't cry for me. I have now rejoined so many other loved ones who have left before me, and my sharing with them in the afterlife will be forever.

Though the time on this earth seems so very limited, please don't cry for me as I feel that I have shared several lifetimes. I have been blessed with beloved family members over all the years of my life. There is not time nor space to recount all the wondrous people who have touched my life. So many dear friends in such a short time. Please don't cry for me. Delight, rejoice, sing and be happy for me. As I have enjoyed all of those things with each of you. It took each of you to fill my life, and my life was full.

We shall all meet again someday where we may continue the many happy moments we have shared. It has been a wonderful journey and my long trip has been complete. Please don't cry for me."

From all of us at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum . . . .

Godspeed Jack Miller

Jack was no doubt the best announcer in our time. He would educate the fans and make you become a sprint car fan. He would make every driver become a champion on his introductions. Jack made it interesting and knew a lot of history and "inside scoop" stories". His announcing was as much part of the excitement as the cars running.

He gave the crowd great background and something to think about as they watched the race.

One of his greatest race calls was the time the nationals was "fogged" out on Saturday night and run Sunday afternoon. A great battle between Mike Brooks, Eddie Leavitt, Tom Corbin and Steve Kinser.
It says a lot when you can remember what an announcer said years later.

What I'll remember about Jack is how much fun he was having. He was doing just what he wanted, and getting paid for it. For many years, I saw him in the press room at Knoxville, and always had a few pleasant chats. We renewed acquaintances at the Chili Bowl. when I started going there every year, and he hadn't changed a bit. He'll sure be missed.

Although we knew the time was coming this is still a sad day for all of us who had met Jack. I don't think I ever met a more gracious person, and he loved all the people in racing. RIP my friend.

Very sad, and the same month they are tearing down the OKC Fairgrounds Speedway which is where I first heard him 40 years ago.

RIP
