On Saturday evening August 7th the Midwest TQ Racing League™ presented by Vincennes University will hold the Frank Ramsey Memorial Race at the Rush County Fairgrounds in Rushville, Indiana. Practice is scheduled for 5:00 pm, qualifications at 6:00 pm, and racing begins at 7:00 pm. General admission is $10 for adults and $2 for children. Pit passes are $25.

Ramsey, a fixture in TQ racing for over 50 years, was the brother of defending owner champion Roger Ramsey and the father of Trevor Ramsey. Together Frank and Roger formed Ramsey Brothers Racing with Trevor serving on the crew of the now numbered “1” three quarter midget.

The Ramsey brothers bought their current car in 2005 and it was around that time that Frank’s health began to fail. His health would seem to improve during the summer months and Roger would never fail to bring him to the races. In early 2009 Frank just couldn’t get better for race season ultimately passing away in April at the age of 69.

Roger continued on with Ramsey Brothers Racing by competing in the inaugural season of the MTQRL. With Tate Martz as the driver they won the 2009 championship. They are also the current point leaders and in ten races this season have two wins and seven top three finishes.

I did not make it to the track until feature time, but I got to see a pretty decent feature. These guys had the best track I have seen there this year. There was actually passing, and not the kind where you push the guy out of the way. Also the track was close to a 2 grove track. Tate Martz took to the high side and was putting on a show. I think he got up to third at one point, but that same high side bit him, as he finshed 6th (i think). Good feature, congrats to Ronnie for working his way thru the field.

TQ29m I stopped back to put a face with the name, but by the time I made it down you way, the trailer door was already closed, so I was not sure which group you were with.

767, sorry we missed you, always like to "jaw" a bit before we leave, and early at that, we were back in Seymour before Lawrence Welk! Yes, track wasn't bad for a change, I have seen it, and many others, a whole lot worse. I out engineered myself, I richend the injection for the feature, and it cooled down weather wise, so it took too many laps to get warm. Oh well, we were up there for a while, and was able to roll it in the trailer, that's always good. Thanks! Bob
