This will be the last race at Tri-State Speedway until Sprint Week. Who all is coming?
Here is the write up from MSCS’s web page. INDEPENDENCE SALUTE AT TRI-STATE SPEEDWAYPosted June 29, 201029Jun Haubstadt, IN - June 28. The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series will make its fourth appearance of the season at Tri-State Speedway Saturday night July 3rd. Racing will get underway at 7:30 P.M. in a program billed as an Independence Salute. This is a great opportunity for race fans to celebrate one of America’s favorite holidays while enjoying all the action that open wheel, dirt track racing can provide. The UMP Open Wheel Modified cars will also be in competition that night. The Midwest Sprint Car Series drivers will be racing for a purse that will pay $2,500 to the winner of the Independence Salute. The event is being held just two weeks in advance of the track’s USAC Indiana Sprint Week date and a month ahead of the MSCS Hoosier Sprint Nationals. July will be a big month for sprint car racing at the Haubstadt track. Sprint car drivers will have a great opportunity this weekend to turn some competitive laps in actual race conditions which could also double as preparation for these upcoming events as well. The Hoosier Sprint Nationals on Saturday July 31st will pay $5,000 to win. During the 6 races on the MSCS schedule that have been held so far this season there have been four different winners. These four drivers have been dominate forces when in competition despite the presence of each other and about 90 other drivers who have taken starter Mo Will’s green flag. Jeff Bland Jr. and Brady Short have two feature wins each. Jon Stanbrough took the MSCS season opener at Terre Haute and Chris Windom prevailed in the Chuck Amati Classic 68 at Paragon. When these four drivers have been in the field in 2010 they have had to be reckoned with. Check their productivity! Brady Short has two wins plus a second and a third in four appearances. Jon Stanbrough has a win and three seconds in four appearances. Jeff Bland Jr. has two wins and a fourth place finish in just three appearances with the series so far. And Chris Windom won the feature in his only appearance. Other drivers have been closing in on a win. Damion Gardner has posted a second and two thirds in MSCS feature competition. Hunter Schuerenberg, who has a third and a fourth, has seen the lead in the feature as recent as 6/20. Both are looking for that first MSCS win in 2010! Each race is a new opportunity and a tough challenge for any and all takers including a host of other MSCS regulars who have been in and out of the top five. Those regulars include Chase Stockon of Sullivan, IN, who took over the points lead on June 19th with a fifth place finish at Paragon Speedway. He led that race and has finished in the top seven or higher in all but one feature. His totals include a fourth at Haubstadt in his last MSCS outing. The 22 year old racer is in the driver’s seat if the goal is to win the 2010 MSCS Driver Championship. Chase has a 14 point lead over Blake Fitzpatrick. Rookie Jonathan Hendrick currently rides third in MSCS points. Both Fitzpatrick and Hendrick have the potential to capture a victory. Brandon Mattox and Kurt Gross are fourth and fifth in points entering this weekend’s competition. With the Independence Salute at Tri-State Speedway the second half of the season will burst upon the sprint car racing scene. The race and all it has to offer promises to be as exciting as any rocket’s red glare! Twenty-one sprint cars will start the feature! That is a lot of rocket power.
