I'm heading east this weekend to see some racing at the Burg & Kokomo... but not sure where to go Friday night. The Gas City forecast calls for rain early, then ending in the afternoon with cloudy skies in the evening. Paducah forcast is calling for sunny skies early, then chance of rain in the afternoon all the way through the evening hours. Any insight from you guys that are locals?? How much rain can Gas City get before they cancel??

Gas City has historically been pretty good about racing even after some rain. I think the forecast looks promising to get the rain out of the way early in the day so we can race tomorrow night...

Tough call, though!

Gas City Normally cancels early if they are going to get rained out. I think they try to make a decision by 2pm if possible. I have never been to the other place, but Gas city is an awsome track for sprint cars. If the rain holds off you will not only see a good field of car but a competitive field of cars. Plus if you go to gas city, you will get to see Indiana's top 3 sprint car tracks :2:

I more thought, Like the previouse poster said, they normally do good after a rain. Unlike many tracks, Gas City has a very loyal fan base. If they are racing there will be fans. many tracks have to worry about weather or not the rain will scare off the fans. Thus the reason why so many races get cancelled before the rain ever shows up. Actually all 3 tracks you are going to have this going for them.

Thanks for the info. I'm kind of under the same impression - hope the rains misses altogether! What time do hotlaps generally start? Their website says racing at 7:30, so I can probably assume 6:30 - but not sure.

I actually thought of that, but forecast for Bloomington looks worse than Paducah & Gas City combined, sooo

Has it been fairly dry around the Gas City area this spring? I would think the track could take a shower and it would still be good to go?

Thanks for the info Devin. Even if they get a shower between noon and 2pm if it's been dry so far i would think it's a go.
