Ziehl Tops ASCS Southwest Season Opener at USA Raceway

TUCSON, Ariz. (March 20, 2010) – Two-time and defending American Sprint Car Series Southwest Region champion Rick Ziehl kicked off the 2010 season by winning Saturday night’s main event at USA Raceway.

Ziehl was chased to the line by Calvin Landis, with R.J. Johnson, John Gaston and Kaylene Verville rounding out the top five.

Joshua Williams, Johnson and Gaston topped heat race action.

Joey McCullough held off a hard charging Ty Weidner to take home top honors in the SCRA Factory Stock feature. McCullough led the way keeping the persistent Weidner in his rear view mirror. Marlo Wrightsman, Jason Harvil and Larry Price rounded out the top five.

Jason Pugliese started off 2010 right where he left off in 2009 as he took home the hardware for the FWD Hornet. While Pugliese was up to his usual it was new comer Colten Huffman who topped RWD Hornet Action.

Brian Stehr led the final laps of the 20-Lap feature in the Dwarf Car feature as he made is way to victory lane.

USA Raceway will kick off the Season for The Barnett Harley Davidson UMP West Modifieds this Saturday night March 27th. The stars of the Barnett Harley Davidson Modifieds will join forces with Super Stocks, Factory Stocks and Hornets.
