The Sprint Series of Texas came to Cowtown Speedway last night. 31 cars, 4 heats, B main and A main. Good racing in the heats and a great A main. Jerry Hammock came from the 4th row to win. A friend of mine, Mike George came from near the back to finish 3rd taking two spots on the last lap.

Also on the card was the Limited modifieds. 22 cars started the feature and friday night's winner from Grand Prairie Speedway could only get 5th at Cowtown. He wins a lot at tracks all around here, so that says something about the competition.

Bombers, winged 600 mini sprints and restrictor 600s rounded out the show.

Scheduled but not racing was the Dwarf cars and the Young Guns mini stocks. Some technicality with the city got Cowtown a 10pm curfew that didn't apply to the two other tracks within spitting distance of Cowtown. While I don't favor the city pushing race tracks around, the old man in me appreciated that the features were over by 9:30, especially since it was still a little chilly with a north wind of 10-15mph.

Personally, even if it had been warm I wouldn't have missed those two other classes. The dwarf cars look cool, but rarely put on good races imo. And I really don't care for mini stocks, although I realize they are a good place for young racers to start.
