Kevin Miller and Jason Smith both said they want to see USAC move along at a faster pace. This brings a question to my mind.

I know USAC requires 2 ambulances at their races, but do they have any requirement to the number of push trucks and tow trucks?

I would think unless they can require a certain number of support vehicles, it will be hard for them to speed up a show.

We all have been to races where there were not enough support vehicles and it made the show last forever.

Purty simple solution, dyno........... SELF STARTERS! If these new guys are really serious, that would be a great place to start..... sprints and midgets..... effective immediately........ no excuses, all of the hardware has been invented for years.

Another great time saver would be a "spin and you're out" rule..... unless, of course, you can get going, again. with your SELF STARTER!

see, add weight, and cost.. with the price of racing already nuts? instead of making teams pay, maybe usac should worry about eating the cost..

Last time they required starters on the midgets it almost killed the division. Took years to recover nonononononononono!

Does anyone else see the irony in the guy with the screen name "NineRacing" complaining about the higher costs?

Certainly, another major "time waster" is "red flag time" followed by another round of "push truck time". This problem could be solved a couple of ways, in addition to self starters.
First, by not, automatically, throwing the red flag every time some bozo flips his car...
Second, by adopting the new super silver crown style bodywork for all sprints and midgets. By putting on the fully enclosed, east coast modified style bodies, you can reduce the amount of wheel to wheel contact resulting in fewer flips. As far as I know, in two years, none of the 14 or 15 fabulous new super silver crown cars has ever flipped.

A lot of wasted time is caused by uncounted yellow flag laps. The show could be speeded up considerably by scoring all yellow flag laps...

When I started in the 60s, a standard feature was a very time consuming 40 laps on a half mile track. A great improvement in time savings has been created with the current 25 or 30 lap features on quarter mile tracks. Additional time savings could be realized by cutting the feature lengths down to 15 or 20 laps.

Another major "time waster" is track conditions. I have sat through hours of midshow watering, scraping, rolling, and patching, trying to save poorly prepared dirt tracks...... The obvious solution to this time (and fuel) consuming activity is to PAVE IT!

Finally, The 800 pound gorilla of wasted time at the track! Hours and hours of "sportsmanhobbypickuptruckmodifiedstocks" that you have to sit through to get to the sprint car feature. Get rid of them!
