This definitely makes me wonder about that... Plus they are working on a WoO 410 version.

The misunderstanding is you do not need a $30k brand new motor to be competive at an ASCS event. Up in MI with ASCS SOD there are plenty of $8k-$12k ASCS used purchased motors running in the top 5 each week and picking up some victories. Yes, you can go out and buy a brand new Roush, Gaerte, Kistler, Don Ott etc.... but it does not mean you are going to dominate the competition. Plus the other benefit of the ASCS motors is most can go 20-30 shows without a rebuild, just standard engine maintenance during the season.

I agree 100% This is a ROUSH/YATES engine. Duh...of course it's going to be expensive. My brother runs 410's and he has a $11,000 motor. He runs against guys that have $50,000 motors. Like up in Michigan, if the track gets slick...which is usually does...all that money and extra horsepower count for nothing. It's all about getting it to the ground. And honestly...I've HEARD...and only HEARD of ASCS motors being much more expensive than $35k seen here. I've heard figures as high as $80,000 for a ASCS legal 360. Now THAT'S redoknulous!

Man I should know better then to make posts on here anymore...

I know all about running a sprintcar with a small motor.. My first year in sprints we ran a steel block 406 and then moved "up" to an aluminum block 355 that was bought off Jonathon Vennard. Ran fairly well with both of them. Even made the Hoosier Fall Classic A-main with that 355 in a reverse arm J&J chassis!

This post was mainly tongue in cheek after all of the recent posts on how to save money with sprints...

Jason,

I know what you are saying on saving money in Sprint Cars. That is what the SCORA Sprint Car Series was designed to do this year as a steel block only series. This is not because you can't put a ton of money into a steel block motor, but most that have these around here are budget racers. I had fun running this series until they opened it back up to aluminum motors for 2 races and then went back to steel for the last one. The new steel block series will be call the American Sprint Car Tour and it will stay steel block and a working class series.

I hope you and your family are doing well! It seems like yesterday we were running wheel to wheel at North Vernon every week in 2001. J.T. :2:
