The tubing is illegal along with most of the other VW powered cars.

Don,

I assume you are saying the wall thickness is illegal. So, what size wall thickness is it and when was the car constructed?

The car still has to pass a minimum weight. So other than a safety issue and a USAC rule, the wall thickness has NO performance advantage.

Secondly, do you have any idea what the wheelbase is and the overall rear width of the Stewart car? I was also paying close attention to the fact that it looks like Tony's car has very little front offset. I've got some ideas for an indoor car, but I think our largest problem is going to be that we only run Inline's so the CG's are going to be a bunch higher.

I'm not an expert at this, but here goes. The width of the tubing and maybe the thickness is the issue. Read the USAC rule book and it will tell you what it should be. There also may be references to older cars in the rules. You would be crazy these days to run those cars outdoors. It could be potentially dangerous indoors also, IMO. Racers have been fatally injured at the Tulsa Expo Center and the Speedrome which are very small tracks.
