I need to ask some of the older members here to put their memory caps on. USAC SC ran at Williams Grove in both 1980 (won by Sheldon Kinser) and 1981 (won by Eddie Leavitt). They were scheduled again in 1982. The date was July 3rd with the series competing at Flemington the next night. That 1982 race at the Grove was never held although the Flemington race was. I know because I was there, the race being won by Doug Wolfgang. My question is does anyone remember why the WG race was not held? Was it rained out, cancelled for other reasons, or what? I ask because I am in possession of three programs from that scheduled WG race and am curious. Thanks in advance for any help.

The 1981 SC race was probably one of the best dirt SC races ever ran.
Eddie and Steve Kinser had a tremendous battle after the fifty lap mark. Eddie took the final lead from Kinser with about three laps left when Kinser's RR brushed the third turn fence and the whole car lifted and Eddie drove right under him for the lead.:thumb:

Is there anybody out there that can convince USAC to bring those cars back to WG? Now that these winged fans got the real sprint car bug, they should really see the real champ cars on a track like the grove.

I don't think it will be that hard a sell. Just got a GOOD hunch.

Fans and their winged drivers don't like the nonwing stuff. It is up to WG management.
