I remember when he switched to Ford in 1969 because Chrysler wanted to keep him in a Plymouth. Petty wanted to run a Dodge because they had the winged Daytona model. He returned to Plymouth in 1970 when they came out with the Superbird. Pete Hamilton of Dedham, MA partnered with him that year and won several races including the Daytona 500.
