I was at that race in 1992 and I was at the lst race. I couldn't tell much of a difference between then and now in crowd size. Perhaps you could enlighten me.

Well,I will be glad to try to "enlighten" you,as you say. The crowds have been down every where or maybe you havn't been paying attention. It just seems back then the crowds were always full at these shows (looking at the videos) than they are today. I mean look at the 1977 Hulman classic or the 1970 and the 1982 Hoosier 100.The crowds were HUGE compared to todays attendance.I hope this helped to "nlighten"you..

Robbie drove my dads car at Kokomo back in I believe '88 but I could be wrong. It was an Allstar show he blew his up and my dad offered him our car because he was so far up in the points. Man did he dump it hard in turn 1 just a few laps into the feature. After that we became pretty good friends.I often think where would he be now.How many championships would he have one? It just makes me sad to think about it.

I give so much credit to D.O and Dean Mills for great video work these days, but man, I tell you what, as a kid, my life stopped every night as Thursday Night Thunder came on the air. The broadcasters were amazing and damn if the racing wasn't just as good whether it was at Winchester or IRP or I think I even remember some West Coast dates. But I remember the "Munchkin" dominance back then and the great races. I wonder why ESPN has never offered some sort of boxset of all the races? Seems like an amazing moneymaker/historical set of videos considering all of the guys in NASCAR now plus the USAC icons that showed up in the videos. I so miss watching one of original fav's, Rich Vogler racing and still remember one of those nights when he perished as a live video feed on ESPN. I cried as I know many did that night. so many mixed memories from such wonderful nights...so much better than Reality TV these days!!

Now that's a good way to start a Saturday morning. "Slip 'n slide, dip 'n dive!"
