Not racing related but very close to the Oswego Speedway safety crews hearts. Two firefighters were killed in a fire on 8/24/09 in Buffalo, N. Y.. One fire fighter fell through the first floor into a burning basement fire while searching for a victim. The other fire fighter fell & was trapped trying to save his fallen brother. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Most of the Oswego Speedway Safety Crew are also Oswego City Fireman and have been deeply effected by this terrible tragedy. Our firefighters put their lives on the line eveytime they respond to a call, yesterday two of the bravest paid the ultimate price. Please keep their families and fellow firefighters in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. My deepest sympathies go out to the families of these fallen heroes. Patti |

I've been watching this tragedy unfold since yesterday morning. This stuff can happen to anyone, in any town.
Godspeed to the 2 fallen brothers and may they rest in peace. Randy Mortland, Fire Chief Village of East Alton Fire Dept. East Alton, IL |
