Stormy Scott Thunders to USA Raceway Victory
Tucson, Arizona (August 15th, 2009) – Stormy Scott thundered to victory in Barnett Harley Davidson UMP West Modified feature at USA Raceway. Scott held off the hard charging field as he captured his first USA win.
Scott bested the 29 car field from his sixth starting spot as he passed Terry Belcher Jr. for the lead mid way through the 25 lap feature. Scott, who was victorious last weekend at Southern New Mexico Speedway, made his USA triumph two in a row as he beat fellow New Mexico driver Jimmy Ray. Cody Alverez, Dane Jorgensen and Terry Belcher Jr. rounded out the top five.
James Binkley ended his five month drought as he returned to victory lane for the first time since March. Binkley drove his 49 machine to the front and never looked back as he dominated the 20 lap Super Stock feature. Binkley bested JR Hiestand, Erick Gibson, Steven Ashcraft and Terry Hill.
Johnny McCarty Sr. topped the 20 lap Factory Stock feature adding his name to the list of multiple feature winners in the very competitive division. McCarty has won two out of the last three Factory Stock races as he edged out point leader Dusty Gauthier for his second win of 2009. Sy Monroe, Josh Partain and Trevor Hidalgo completed the top five.
“Chargin” Charles Davis lead all 15 laps of the FWD Hornet division almost lapping teammate “Smokin” Joe Morales. Davis would have to relinquish his victory to Jason Pugliese for failing to go to post race tech inspection.
Duane Jones made it three in a row as he edged out point leader Jason Miller in RWD Hornet action. Jones, fresh off his Hornet Hustle Victory, rallied to capture his third victory in as many tries.
